Colorado Gardens That Rock

Some landscapers may see the rough Colorado growing conditions as limitations; Columbine Design sees them as an opportunity to exercise our horticulture knowledge and design creativity.  Avoiding high maintenance plantings and experimenting with different natural elements can reveal unique ways to add color and texture to a garden even in a harsh environment. There are many ways to design a rock garden with drought-tolerant plants for a beautifully rugged landscape that will also stand up to the toughest elements.

Layering shrubs and wildflowers among rocks is an easy way to create a full, colorful and natural landscape.

You can create visually interesting contrast by combing plants and rocks  of various textures and shapes; the below garden mixes perennials with shrubs as well as boulders with Mexican pebbles.

There are many crevice growing plants that can add year-round beauty; the garden below features dwarf confers for texture and pink blossom perennial sea thrifts for height and color.

Columbine Design can build you a beautiful rock garden with groundcovers, flowering plants, shrubs, annuals and perennials that will create a fantastic foliage you can enjoy year-round. Contact Columbine Design to schedule a complimentary consultation by calling (303) 761-6807.
