Agastache cana "Rosita"

Summer gardens are bursting with the colors and fragrances loved by hummingbirds, butterflies, and your neighbors! Here is an inside peak into a few plants that will bring the beauty of wildlife to your landscape.

Hummingbirds love members of the Agastache genus. Also known as hummingbird mint, Agstache enjoys periods of warm weather and can withstand much cooler temperatures when planted with crushed gravel or mulch in well drained soil. Its flowers are fragrant and come in a multitude of colors.

Butterflies gravitate towards the Asclepias tuberose, a brilliant flowering plant that is like a burst of golden sunlight for any garden. The ornate seed pods and rich green foliage create a pleasing contrast against the golden petals.

The Asclepias tuberose serves theĀ  multiple function of attracting butterflies and hummingbirds while deflecting deer.

The delicate petals of the Salvia reptans speckle your garden with cobalt blue in the late summer. Its lovely scent also attracts our flying friends while dissuading guest appearances by rabbits and other crawlers.
