Koi Ponds Bring Life (& Luck) to Landscapes

According to Chinese tradition and Feng Shui practitioners, flowing water brings prosperity to the home and adding koi fish can increases this good fortunate.  On top of these ancient beliefs, koi fish are quite fascinating and fun to own. As a variety of carp, koi fish can live up to 50, 75, 100 or even 200 years and are surprisingly very low maintenance and easy to care for.

With no natural predators, koi fish are not afraid of humans and are actually very social creatures.  One of the best parts about having a koi pond is being able to step up to the edge of the pond and look forward to the koi fish swimming over to greet you (and hopefully get a treat, too). Their favorite food is watermelon; throw a small piece into the water and you can watch the flesh and rind of this fruit disappear before your eyes. Finally, these fish are simply beautiful. Watching these graceful, vibrant-colored fish on warmer nights (with water at a consistent 50 degrees) when they are most active can be extremely therapeutic and relaxing.
